the tonal inconsistency you mention, and the inconsistency in how each characters' concerns are treated by the narrative/author in general are what's making the mess here when it comes to how people react to the characters. I'd prefer it if this story took the conflicts it's raising more seriously, or just fully committed to being braindead porn (not that I wouldn't have the same criticisms, but at least it would be straightforward and honest about its intentions). instead, we're getting this weird not-quite drama, not-actually-funny comedy, not-romantic romance.
as it stands, this is reading like "submit to your own subjugation" propaganda, which is true to the concept of omegaverse, I guess.
