Guideverse??

Guideverse originally comes from a movie or series if i recall correctly, called The Sentinel.
Now I haven't watched, but from what I've investigated (lol) the idea is that there's sentinels (or espers, depends on the version but they're essentially the same) who have a variety of superhuman abilities, powers etc. As the person above explained those powers make them go berserk/corrupted (also the same thing it just depends on the story) this corruption is caused usually bc using such power is taxing on their bodies/their energy gets messy inside of them, and the ones to either reorganize that energy or simply get rid of it, are called guides. Originally they were called that bc it was a person who "guided" the energy inside the sentinel to the right places, or simply calmed them down. In manhwa you'll see many versions of this, some require only light physical touch, others go full "fuck or die", but not all. Many just play with in-betweens. Most times guides and sentinels have a rank like hunter stories, so that affects their efficiency as well.
Also! Much like omegaverse, in some stories sentinels/espers are highly regarded why guides are relegated to a very low civil servant, though other times it's the opposite. A few stories have a different balance, I personally think it's nice bc different stories find different arguments as to why their story's society has the views it has— it's all worldbuilding, after all, and it's usually important to the whole plot as such. If you're ever interested I hope you can read one, many of them are really good!
