FINALLY!! Someone said it!!
I don’t really want to jump in the wagon. But see, first few chapters really felt like the dragon fvcked up big time. But then, as the story goes, I’m hating them both hahahaha.
Keywords: Entitled and In denial.
FL was strong and brainy - in the wrong kind of way. She’s human, He’s a dragon. Their mentality is far different from each other onset but my girly is thirsty for validation from people. In my point of view, she’s not in love. She’s in love with the idea of being one, plus all the prestige that goes with it specially the MATE title, hence the efforts and all that sheesh. I’m also a woman, but FL screams pick-me.
They are both annoying. But in my perspective, the dragon’s reasoning is aligned with his nature. The FL, love skeptic, I suppose.
People hate for the sake of hating these days.
A ML would clip the nails of FL too short and they will scream it is abuse and ML deserved to d**.
Most of them are too young/immature to understand
1- it's a story and it is fictional, you need a conflict to make a story
2- They don't know "abuse" they were told about it. It make them fragile.
So conflict, mixed feeling and all that stuff mean toxic for them.
They want a story where everythings goes well from the start, without anything to resolve, just a conclusion from the start......
In the end the only thing that count is that you enjoy reading it.
Exactly. They both ended up hating the destiny and life they were given. He hated being a Dragon too. Which led to his denial and hatred for the humans. He learned how great humans are with Tenuss. From the past he learned the importance of emotions and his mate. That’s the whole reason he turned back time.
its like you understood his point of view well but didn't even try for the fl
FL is part of the reason he was able to ascend the throne and become the emperor, because she's his mate. Everyone knows that, even the one who gave her the silk. Now, how were they able to treat her like that? because the emperor himself refuses to acknowledge her and give her the empress position.
She mentioned that even tho he treats his mate like trash, his position remains strong among the ppl. He said himself how he gives her hope by giving her crumbs sometimes then squashing it after.
You said she was entitled? But that's literally how all the other dragon mates became the empress, she's the only who was denied of that position. So she became "obsessed" as you said in proving herself to those nobles and esp the emperor, hoping they can see she's worthy of being empress. But as you know, the ml have zero intentions of giving that to her despite all her efforts.

I genuinely don’t get why people are hating the ML this much.
In the past timeline, it’s not like they were in some mutual love story that he ruined.
They weren’t even on the same emotional page to begin with. She wanted recognition badly. A place she owned for herself; by herself.
Not just from him, but from everyone. Being acknowledged as a capable minister mattered more to her than anything, and the more people doubted her, the more obsessed she became with proving herself.
He just happened to be the first person who did recognize her. He gave her status, trusted her abilities, kept her close. That naturally meant a lot to her, but that doesn’t automatically turn it into love from his side.
On the other hand, he wasn’t even functioning like a normal human because he was a NEWLY AWAKENED DRAGON. He genuinely believed dragons weren’t supposed to feel emotions.
That’s not just an excuse that’s literally how he understood his very own existence. His entire focus after awakening was the throne and fulfilling his "role" and by role I meant that these semi-divine beings that are there to maintain the peace and prosperity of the Empire.
Even before the awakening they know that their fate is tied to the Empire and it's people.
And that's just what he believed his sole purpose was.
He wasn’t emotionally available because, in his mind, he wasn’t even supposed to be.
And we actually see this get called out in the story itself. When he goes back and talks to the former emperor, he still insists that dragons shouldn’t feel emotions and he mocks her being "un-Emperor" like
And she straight up corrects him & tells him that dragons do feel emotions when they’re with their dragon consort, and that the consort’s existence is important for that very reason.
She even calls him out for being stupid about it. So it’s not like the narrative is defending him blindly the story itself acknowledges he was wrong.
He was wrong because he undermines the relationship shared by a dragon and it's human mate.
The point is, his biggest flaw wasn’t cruelty, it was denial. He did feel something, but he kept rejecting it because it didn’t fit his idea of what a dragon should be. By the time he realizes that denying those emotions was childish, it’s already too late.
And yes, the FL suffered but her side isn’t completely clean either. She is obsessive. She is entitled af.
She tied her self-worth to his and others recognition, and when he became the center of that validation, her attachment went way beyond what their relationship actually was.
From his perspective, it was still a professional/employer dynamic. From her side, it turned into something much deeper and more consuming.
He didn’t mistreat her in a direct way. If anything, he consistently acknowledged her abilities and kept her in a position of importance. But he also didn’t give her emotional clarity, and that gap is what destroyed everything.
Now in the current timeline, he knows he messed up. He literally calls himself the one who killed his own consort. He admits that trying to suppress his emotions was childish. That level of self-awareness is already more than what most “cold MLs” ever show.
The real issue now is not that he’s arrogant or heartless it’s that the way he’s trying to fix things is… off. He’s still approaching her in a way that feels forceful, like he’s trying to compensate without fully understanding her boundaries yet.
That’s where the tension is coming from, and yeah, it might turn a bit toxic if he doesn’t adjust. Which he does later on.
But calling him “trash” like he intentionally ruined her life? That feels exaggerated. He was literally a newborn dragon. He was in denial, and late to understand what he felt but not malicious.
At the end of the day, their tragedy came from mismatch, not betrayal.
She was entitled and obsessive which grew worse as she later came to realise that she was capable of welding the dragon's mate's powers which acted like petrol in fire.
He refused to understand what he felt.
He deemed human emotions as worthless.
And everything collapsed in that gap.
