He was concerned for the little goblin who came crying and begging for him to go back. So when he returned the little goblin didn't say anything when Oh Hwi was behind him and smack his head. So he felt betrayed by the little goblin who he treated at first as a Human Kid instead of a goblin kid
He straight up said why right before he went through: if the small goblin was able to come through, he thought it would only be a matter of time before ohwi figured out how to come through. And if ohwi was murdering everyone, he was scared he’d kill his brother when he eventually made it through. So he sacrificed himself.
The part I’m guessing tho is that ohwi didn’t tell anyone about the effects of the stab wound. Otherwise, if goblin kid knew that and didn’t share the info, then that means he’s mega not on the dude’s side (although he’s too afraid of ohwi to really be counted on at this point anyway - might’ve been to scared to warn about him striking from behind). Like it sucks that the dude literally could’ve never gone back and potentially be able to wait out ohwi until he died and became a lesser demon, therefore hopefully meaning he could never get him anyway. And the kid could’ve maybe stayed in the human world too so he wouldn’t get killed until someone else maybe showed up later to take him back?

But but then maybe they could’ve gone a different route with the kid demon after he grows up and comes back for him or maybe whoever comes for the kid later ends up falling for him?? Or even the loan shark dude could’ve been a route (they clearly have him as a second ml - not that he’s a particularly good choice tho). There were so many options
