The was unnecessary, if he wanted to make Lucien fall in love with him without traumatizing him, he could’ve approached him as the assassin and explain how he could only spare Lucien but kill his whole family. Lucien wouldn’t have a choice but to flee with Nigel. But I think the in the beginning was Nigel’s way of hurting Lucien for sleeping around when he always only thought of Lucien. Additionally, I wished there was more backstory of why it looked like Lucien’s mom didn’t like the prince, and what he meant by Lucien could be his son. Does that mean he slept with his own sister??? Weird…anyway, the plot itself had potential but the execution and decisions weren’t great.
