I love the question latest chap raises. If one child/person could be sacrifice to bear all the shts human go through. Is it acceptable or nah? Would you or would you not? If no onw could no longer starve to death in expanse of one person starving to death, what choice would you make? I still don't know what to answer

oo yea I've heard that comparison in a philosophy class I took and I've always thought it was interesting. Most people think it's still morally wrong no matter the outcome but there were a few with an utilitarian view and said that the they would choose for 1 to suffer instead

Broadly there probably isn't a correct answer from the perspective from nowhere, but in this case Kureha is wrong and the father is right. They have a responsibility to the tribe as a whole above and beyond their individual responsibility to their family members and any given individual. They also have to bear the consequences of that decision. I'm not sure any other member of the tribe could make that call, or would even have the right to.

Like a trolley problem, but only the chief even has the right to make the call. No one else is entitled to a judgment because they don't have the responsibility of access to the lever.
