I honestly can’t wait to finish this manga, it’s so beautiful. It’s become one of my favorites. The dynamic between the two main characters just feels perfect. It really captures that shift from best friends to lovers in a way I haven’t seen before (you can really tell they are childhood friends).
I didn’t expect it to handle gender change in such a serious and respectful way. Usually it’s treated like a joke, without really showing how much it can affect you to suddenly have a body different from the one you were born with. I also didn’t expect Tachibana to actually prefer her new body and fully accept herself as a woman, and I think they handled that amazingly.
No matter what some people say, it’s great to see a trans character who’s treated with respect and who actually shows real growth after accepting herself as a girl. I love how much they care about each other, their devotion, and how far they’d go for one another.
I started watching the anime thinking it would go in a kind of “hidden yaoi” direction, and even though it didn’t, I’m really happy with how things turned out. You can really feel how unique the story is, probably because it’s written by both a man and a woman (who are married), and that mix of perspectives really shows.
There were a lot of moments where I found myself wondering if the author was a man or a woman, since some aspects of the story hinted at one, while others clearly had a feminine touch. When I found out it was both, it all made sense.
I hope I can read the final chapters soon and see how it ends, even though now that I’m this far in, it kind of makes me sad to have to say goodbye.
