They can still have selective empathy, they have reduced affective empathy for most people, but maintain a "factor two" empathy for specific things, such as children and pets.

see this is what they dont teach me in my abnormal psych class. thanks for letting me know! i looked it up and seems some people with aspd do tend to be more empathetic towards animals and babies because of their straightforward and "innocent" nature compared to adults who are complex and "bad".
also yes, psychopath/sociopath is still aspd, its what is called on dsm 5 tr :3
