The biggest problem is fhat he scented him since high school (?) Middle school (?) I lowk also forgot; this made the MC's heat cycles completely messed up and basically depend on the ML, which is a huge disruption for accomplishing his dream.
And btw, the ML has ZERO regard for his dreams and goals. In the recent chapters hes shown disgustingly obsessive and overprotective behavior, overreacting at the slightest hint of being with another alpha w/o letting him explain and then just immediately fucks him
