Some romantic manga, shows, and novels I once thought were cute as kid are actually very problematic. For example, I read a novel where the male lead kidnapped the female lead and they still ended up together. He even told his friends that he loved the second female lead but felt responsible for the first one. The second female lead refused to marry him because of what he did, and at the time I thought, “What a bitch.” I also thought the wife, the female lead, was kind. Now, as an adult, I realize the female lead was just stupid.

Absolutely. I read it as 13-14. I felt a bit uncomfortable. Now I'm awed how did I managed to finish the series. He saw his child version too on top it. Merely 2-3 years younger feels like kids to me and he was looking at a 15 year old in that lens.
