From google search, an actual existing insect, found mainly and US and central America. Considered a great nuisance because they fly in swarm and splattered on cars etc.

Annoying af too they just get everywhere
I've seen pictures and definitely looks like a nightmare. I fking HATE the sound and feeling of crushing insects under my shoes. I can't imagine having a swarm of lovebugs, dead or alive, everywhere on the road waiting to be squished.
