Considering her biggest trauma seems to be around abandonment/loneliness, I can see why she's a people pleaser. She isn't quite strong enough to tough it out.
That said, she doesn't seem to see her job as labor, more like an excuse to have a family. She already said she's got more than enough money to get by. What's good about those two kids specifically is basically just being the only ones to give her a chance, that's really about it.
Sure, if she had a healthy sense of self worth, she would have started a new life under an alias somewhere far away as soon as she realized how people saw her instead of trying to rehabilitate her image by building a cookie house, but FL is just that kind of airhead.
Reading these kind of plot is like swallowing a macaron whole. It gets stuck and ends up being suffocating.

I kinda feel like Hazel should just ditch everyone, the place itself and settle somewhere else. I doubt two unrelated children and their brother who treats you like SHIT are worth bearing so much scrutiny over.
I love these themes usually...all that dynamic and stuff but it's kinda overdone here.
No matter how much she gets hurt, it's as though she can never hold it against anyone. Only the chef genuinely apologized to her and even THAT was kinda half assed.
I cannot see what is so good about those two kids that she can accept free labour + verbal abuse from employer + hatred + ostracization.
