No idea if it’s in the novel but he gets pretty fucked up and becomes useless, by the best person ever. We don’t see it, we find out when the main characters are told about it, which is honestly kind of perfect to me. Because fuck that guy, he gets no more screen time and now I can’t even remember his name like the trash pile he is. The rest of the story goes amazingly and ends well
