I wouldn’t have such a huge issue if most smut content had actual consent. I’m not saying every one is as toxic as this, but it is genuinely hard to find smut content in manhwa/manga that has thorough consent no matter if it’s yuri, yaoi,or straight. I’ve been reading smut for over ten years and it’s still only a handful of content where the person on the bottom isn’t say “ no” or “wait” and enthusiastically enjoys sex. Consent should be the standard in smut and it’s not. You literally have to type smut with consent to get a short list of options.
if you have been reading for this long and havent realized yet that part of the "nos" and "waits" is tagged as rape and the other part is bottom's charming bullshit and apparently aphrodisiac for asians readers, then god, idk what more do you need to stop reading something you clearly hate xD
(even if it's been 10y and you still out here reading dubious/rapey content...) ┑( ̄ ▽ ̄)┍
I totally understand, the way I see it there's a difference between a story where the author is clearly romantizicing non-con, these are usually the stories where that dynamic never changes even when the story ends and they get together as a couple.
And then we have stories like this one or The Painter of the Night where the author adds that at the beginning of the relathionship just to showcase how much of an asshole the main love interest is, and so that way when they "change" and they actually become a good person it has much more of an impact.
Again, in either scenario rape is inexcusable and it also makes me uncomfortable that it seems to be such an integral part of yaoi manhwas. However, I can look the other way if it is for the sake of their character development and the author is portraying it as a bad thing since the beginning. But I'd like to think that we all know if that happened in real life, a person like that deserves criminal charges and it's very unlikely they'd change.
@Bffr68 i am very relaxed, i just saw hypocrisy and just decided to comment on it xD
(it doesnt compare to foaming and searching someone's already-read
list, right? :x)
so, see, you say you stopped reading /this,/ right? then cheers! here's to another 10 years reading more thousands manhwas where just a handful of them isnt the rapey smut you hate so much :D lmao

Does it really matter whether it was actual rape or not?
regardless, KimDan went through abuse and sexual trauma which are just as bad, so to the people trying to make excuses, you need to see it for what it was: an abusive and toxic situation where KimDan suffered a lot of trauma because of Jaekyung.
And yes, we're talking about a consenting adult who consented to go through all that but even when both parties are adults, there's something called "power dynamics" that sometimes may come into play. In this case, the fact that KimDan really needed the money and Jaekyung was the only one willing to give it to him at the cost of his ass is a perfect example a power dynamic where one of them has a clear disadvantage, making the lines blurry for what consent actually means. Not everything is either black or white, people.
Now, I think bottom line here is that... this is fiction, these characters aren't real, I think we can still debate these topics because they're real life problems that some people go trough and therfore they are very important
I would never root for a relationship like this in real life, but truth is that when it comes to fiction, I eat it up every single time lmaoo the more toxic they are at the beggining, the more satisfying it is for me once they end up together, but that's just my personal preference, I understand that's not everyone's cup of tea but me, personally, I'm not agains it.
