I completely agree like switching really is not that deep it's completely fine if characters do that we don't need to be so against it

And I totally agree with you, furthermore bottoming is such a huge strain for the body so it would be perfectly healthy if they switched. And I am saying this as someone who used to think inside the box and fitted to heteronormativity reflected in homosexuality. But I no longer believe that there should be specific roles to relationships in general. Nonetheless I won't deny it takes a lot of "getting out of your comfort zone" reteaching your brain to not stick to prejudice and preconceptions

well switch is ALSO a preference, vers is not a "lack of preference" or "whatever" some people are vers and that is their preference. so , "strict top" "strict bttm" and "vers" are all preferences, being vers doesnt automatically mean theyre less heteronormative than others
If you do not understand what im speaking of when 99% of bl comics are strict dynamics then theres no need to comment on it, there are also very obvious stereotypes surrounding what kind of characters are tops and what kind kind of characters are bottoms. You dont even know the difference between a vers and a switch.
Never even being open to exploring a switch couple makes u inherently heteronormative. I am not saying strict tops and bottoms dont exist but switches exist too there shouldnt be a negative bias specifically towards that.
Also stories do not exist in a vacuum unaffected by real life mindsets and ideas, most bl writers are non queer non men so ofc their approach to a couple will be heteronormative.

Everything is a preference but when the readers prefer something over another as if they have any say in what a couple does isnt the same case of preference as a real life couple who themselves choose what they wanna do.

The earth will be a much better place when people look at switching as smth that adds rather than takes away from characters, ofc if the characters themselves dislike it then thats their thing but the push for strict roles is so hella heteronormative coming from readers but what can u expect when the readership is cis straight women who read as though they r "consuming a product" than watching two depiction of humans that do things. Even if they role reverse thats not the end of the world they can reverse again, thats the point theres all the freedom and sexy poses to explore.
