In his previous life, he only focused on how to protect his wife and he did it with intentionally being cruel to her and practically barely there for her in their marriage life. Af the early months after marriage, they had solid relationship but changed drastically after he knew his cursed mana could affecting her life. So since then he decided to stay away from her. It was his sacrifice to keep her safe while he searched for the way to break the curse. But for FL, he was neglecting her. He was bound to fail in the previous life because he had no way to know how to solve the curse.
When he came to term with his cursed mana and about to go back to his wife, about to stay beside her as he loved her, it was too late.
It was not a simple miscom I believe, even in his current life he is still clueless about so many things. The same thing goes to FL. When their misunderstanding come to an end in the current life, it was not easy for FL to forgive him too. FL still dealing with trauma of all the pain he gave her in 1st and 2nd life.

This story is not a groundbreaking at all, in fact, following the standard dark romance fantasy with cruel ML and pitiful FL. How they meet - the political marriage - their feelings start to develop - the drama - the "FL leave ML then ML will regret everything" - every single aspect basically the same thing as any other stories out there. The same exact recipe so yeah a wise decision to read this when you have no other options LOL

From what I've read until chapter 70s free english translation + spoilers from forum, I can tell you few things :
In previous life he deliberately act like the biggest arsehole to FL in order to protect her. ML has always loved Blair, but because of his black magic cursed mana, he had to get away from Blair. The curse shorten Blair’s lifespan. The closer he stayed with Blair, the shorter her lifespan is so he went on a voyage trying to find a way on how to break the cursed.
During FL's pregnancy in his previous life, he forced himself to stay away from her in order to protect her and their baby. He thought the wench saintess can break the curse but she was delulu in love with him. The saintess manipulated him by saying if his wife Blair hates him then the cursed can be broken (which is partly true). Herdine and Blair’s love for each other strengthen the curse but what they didn’t know was, both parties have to hate each other in order to break the cursed but ML thought only one partner’s hate can break the cursed. That’s why ML went along with the saintess's scheme by hugging her in order to make Blair hate him (but until the end Blair and Herdine loved each other).
After seeing Blair’s broken face after he hugged the saintess, he decided to just live with the curse. He couldn’t stand seeing Blair’s broken face. ML sent the saintess away and wanted to start a new happy life with Blair and their son but few days after sending the saintess away, Blair was murdered.
This CURSE is actually the most important part in the story but it will be revealed more later on. Note, until chapter 70s not once this curse on their relationship being mentioned at all (we only know the curse of his parents). So we will know about it very late. Odd is not it?
The saintess in 1st and 2nd life is different type of headache. In previous life ML sent her away (after staging false cheating situation to make FL hate him) and there was no continuation of her story.
But in 2nd life/current life unfortunately we will keep see her around muddying the water much longer. She is much more delusional now than in previous life so prepare yourself about her wrongdoings. Her punishment in the end is not death tho, but ML make sure she lost her prestigious image forever. Even commoners hating on her.
FL died in the previous life and ML became a monster after he found her lifeless body. He brought her body to temple in order to bring her back to life but failed. He, consumed by mana and can not control his power, he ended up kill anyone (maids, knights, aide). He only stopped when he saw his son. His son was the ultimate reminder of his beloved wife.
ML was the one who brought FL back to life. In order to do that, ML had to pay the price with his own life. So when FL died, ML also died. The baby, Asiel was left alone with remnant of magic circle and dark mana around his body. He soon transported to another place, he was in warm water. In this condition, Asiel is still looking for his parents especially his Mom. He will reborn again with his memory in previous and current life intact.
In the current life ML is still in denial of his feelings and try so hard to dislike her, just because FL is the daughter of his biggest enemy. I'm at 70s chapter in the novel. FL still trying to get her memory back. The one who murder Esmeralda was not her mom, but the Pope (ML's uncle). The mystery who killed her is still far from being resolved, she know by now who killed her (ML's trusted knight and his long-time friend) but have no idea who gave him the order. This person is the one who ML sent to spy on FL's mother by the way. The one who ordered to kill FL is also the Pope. He did it so ML will go berserk. The Pope is the final boss.
FL & ML, surprisingly have decent relationship (the bar is lower than hell I know), they able to communicate to some extent and FL is pretty straightforward. ML at the other hand, keep deflecting, keep self-sabotaging their relationship. ML is unstable af. He is nice 40% : douchebag 60%. FL is planning to leave ML once she 100% sure she pregnant with their child.
In previous life ML did not cheat. He self-sabotage everything in previous and current life. ML is typical ML character in dark romance fantasy fiction. Actually in love with his partner, actually obsessed, actually yearning for her love and attention but born to be cold calculated son of a beach.
In the current life ML will slowly remember their previous life. A hint of flashback here and there but he don't know what to make of out it. He no longer can deny his love for FL after FL left (again, very typical). Unfortunately FL left him only for two months! She is already pregnant in this period of time. ML got his previous life memory back in chapter 120s. He then try to protect FL and their baby with all this might. But FL and ML end up with divorce and they lived separately. The reconciliation process/story is similar to The Problematic Prince. Snowy days, FL is living at village, ML desperately want to meet her, ML begs for forgiveness another chance to start a new with her. ML got sick, FL nursed him back to health and they start to talk again.
Asiel will be born again in the side stories.
