im reading the novel rn, and (spoilers) ian wants to kill michel but leaves it up to michel’s actions to decide if he will or not. and michel is so stubborn that he risks his life and almost freezes to death to save ian

Michel deserves so much better, I know Ian is doing all this out of revenge but Michel truly loves him

and this is why the line “old men have a lot to teach” (ain says this to michele when they are hunting i think?) is so haunting, because there is just so much unspoken weight and horrifying truths within that line
