I am stupid for still trying to read these. It's always the same awful tropes.
1. The FL is both arrogant and insecure, thinking she has the right to choose what is best for everyone - which involves her own self righteous suicide of course - without consulting anyone else.
2. The ML is politically retarded and jeopardizes everything because of his single minded list obsession with the FL.
3. The villain is the only character worth respecting. She knows who she is, what she wants, that she can get it, and has the will to act on it.
I don't go for the "mUh StRoNg AnD iNdEpEnDeNt WyMyN" stuff but it would be nice to see an FL that isn't a Mary Sue but also isn't a frustrating self sabotager. Palace drama stories are cool because of the political intrigue but we're always getting a glimpse into the Kingdom of the Emotionally Retarded.
