I think it’s just going with what the original novel was supposed to be like (the one where Phileo and Varia are leads). If I remember correctly, they apparently had a whirlwind romance even in the ognovel. Ig the problem is, since we’re seeing the story develop from Leo’s POV, we aren’t getting all the moments between Phileo and Varia.

Doesn't it feel the romance is so fast-paced? The story didn't give a time for us to know varia alone or give us time to love the chemistry between them with a slow burn shi. It just slap us and says "here you go get you romance plot" Don't get me wrong I very much support romance here but its too shallow if I may say
