Whether you love her or hate her, you gotta admit the way she's portrayed is very well written. We have a woman who was abused and exploited as child who grew up to become an abuser herself, perpetuating the cycle of abuse. When she gained power, it didn't humble her or bring out her inner righteousness. She was filled with rage at the world and enjoyed dishing out revenge at those who wronged her before.
Then after she regressed to the past and regretted how she treated Lyrica, the only person to ever unconditionally love and cherish her (the kind of love Ludia was craving all along) and she vowed to change. However, I love that she magically doesn't become a better person overnight. She's trying to be better as a mother and as a person over all but every so often she reverts back to how she was in the past life. I think that feels a lot more realistic. A person can not change who they are at their core in an instant. It takes time and effort and people have to make a choice every single time to be better or fall back to old, comfortable patterns of behavior. This going back and forth between old habits and struggling to build a better life for herself makes Ludia feel more humane as a character. I absolutely love regression revenge stories but people cannot become an entirely different person at their core overnight, even if they are fictional. The author does very well in evoking sympathy for Ludia for trying to better and then also reminds us what a horrible mother she was actually to Lyrica. Her character shows the many complexities of a human character.

Sorry, brotato, but there’s nothing particularly well-written about her. Yes, I love her, but she’s no different from the average person who uses their trauma as an excuse to abuse others. There’s nothing extraordinary about her characterization. Lyrica loved her blindly and did everything for her, and Ludia’s response was to sell her off to some old bastard without feeling a shred of remorse until it was too late. We sympathize with her because we were given her POV, not necessarily because her writing is exceptional. She and Fjord’s mother are essentially cut from the same cloth, yet one gets sympathy while the other gets hate simply because we haven’t been shown the latter’s backstory and perspective yet. That alone should tell you how much POV influences readers’ judgment of a character.

And before anyone gets the wrong idea, Ludia is literally one of my favorite characters. I LOVE how selfish she was, and I love that she’s actively trying to change now. But loving a character and acknowledging that they’re well-written are two entirely different things. She can be an interesting character without being some exceptionally well-written masterpiece, lol

Honestly, I think the fact that she's like any other typical person who uses their trauma to hurt others is what makes her character well written. Many of the manhwa protagonists we see actually do have the same background as Ludia. Abused and traumatized but somehow still able to keep their righteousness intact. While that makes a pretty good story and a "just" FL, it just doesn't seem realistic. That was what I wanted to convey. Ludia acts in a very typical manner. She's selfish and self-absorbed and only saw Lyrics as a tool. She's the epitome of a person who uses their trauma to hurt other people and uses it as an excuse to avoid accountability. And honestly, I don't even think she would have felt remorse if she didn't die. Even in past life when Lyrics was getting tied at the stake, her concern was that Lyrics would rat her out. It wasn't until Lyrics actually died, did she actually start to regret. Even her fresh start was all thanks to Lyrica. Ludia is unlike the usual characters we see in manhwa. Even Lyrica matches a lot of the boxes for Mary Sue FL trope, being innocent all her life despite the abuse she endured(don't come at me for saying this xD I absolutely love her). But Ludia is fucked up. She is the kind of person who would do whatever it takes to get what she wants.
And while I do agree to some extent that Ludia and Fjords mother are similar, I don't think their cut from the same cloth. Fjords mom is the kind of person who thinks the world should be at the their feet and feels entitled to the imperial authority; thus using people as a means to an end, even her children. While Ludia is someone who was burned by the world, so she will burn it to get her stake. Similar approach, different circumstances.

My absolutely favorite thing about this manhwa is how Taeju's parents took one look at Euiyoung and went "well, we did want a grandkid, we'll just take this ready-made one". Lmao

One of mc was looking after his toddler nephew after his sister died and the other one was a cop. The cop used to look after the other one raising his nephew a lot when he got into trouble.

I really don't understand what is going on with Kakao. They went really hard to close down popular piracy sites because the revenue for the official sites were dwindling. Which I get, the more people buy the official chapters, the more support the authors gets. But now they are closing down the official site that had a major portion of popular manhwas!? How do they expect readers to read from the official channel when they're closing down the avenue for international readers to find any good webtoons online? Honestly, Tapas used to be my one of my favorite webtoon apps because it was very easy to earn inks and buy official chapters even without spending money. In recent years, it seems like they're making it harder for the international readers to gain access easily to content.

the hard truth is; pirate site are the one making their manhwa popular globally. things happen with anime manga you know. shutting down international access is so stupid
