I guess that's the reason the author took the hard way by almost killing Dan, so Jaekyung would have a justification to act that desperate. Because, after all he almost literally lost him for good, and that shocked him to the core. Idk that's my reasoning, but I still feel it's a bit rush, maybe because we, as readers, knew Dan wouldn't die.
I think this is a problem a lot of manhwa writers are having, not just Yaoi ones. The hurt / pain / misunderstanding arcs are way too long and the redemption / chasing / revenge arcs way too short to feel satisfying. Like the writers don't know how to give the readers & MC enough time during the redemption arc to forgive the perpetrators while also keeping the interest / tension in the story high.
yeah I think I'd have to agree... if there was one story with AMAZING pacing that felt like a masterpiece to read though, I highly recommend Reunion ( https://www.mangago.me/read-manga/reunion/ ) There's no asshole character in it per se, but the build up and release of the tension/angst in the story is so good...
Yeah mingwa’s pacing was poor planned if you’re going to make a character so shitty then yes it’ll take forever for him to change so yes the pacing made sense til the last 20 chapters then she rushed the ending was probably over it but if she stayed loyal to the correct pacing resolution should have been around 200 chapters

I dunno, I feel like pacing-wise they rushed into the uncontrollable sobbing schtick way too quickly. It's way too disproportionate to the considerably longer time that he was an absolute monster of a person that my brain still has a difficult time believing this sobbing guy is the same dude that cruelly used people without a care.
I actually would've rather there'd been a timeskip where he'd be forced to grow up as a person and chase after Kim Dan properly, but to also let Dan breathe for a while WITHOUT him around. This just reeks of "I ran out of steam and want to end this story now" to me.
