Can we appreciate how despite his many flaws Grandpa tried his best to reconcile and reconnect with the family his daughter created. Like in some tropes the grandparents are always in favor of “just the fl” and ignores the rest of the children that have a hard time with emotions or already adults/becoming adults. Like he actually went ahead, seek out his oldest grandkids, and despite the anger and distain they portray to their grandfather he still show love and care. He still see it as a sign that “oh he doesn’t like this” or “I see he likes this.” He doesn’t treat it as lost cause and still fight for a chance to have a relationship with them…. And that just fills me up with such joy
