Yes, he was a slave. Penelope used him for her own gain but what did you expect her to do why her life was in jeopardy? This girl has been fighting and losing her mind over her fate and you all have the nerve to judge her for trying to survive? As if you wouldn't do the same if you were in her position.
If I woke up in a simulation as someone destined to die, I definitely would do whatever it takes to survive. Because for all I know, this is a game, not real life. I'm from the real world and these are just characters that I have to play with. I would feel more sympathy for him if he hadn't brought "Ivonne" back just so he could monopolize Penelope when she was in distress.
He's the type of guy who would cut her achilles heel so she won't run away from him. He's just as bad as her asshole brother who has bird with the same color of her hair locked up in a cage.
