There’s no AU storyline it was just a flashback to their school days (⊙…⊙ )
Of course not, they were separated as children.
And the author herself posted an announcement that they would return with a side story.
I knew season 2 couldn't be the end, haha... although I didn't really understand the AU storyline, anyway, the main story is finally back!!
