My media literacy lovin' ahh can't take this

Should NOT have trusted the comments. I miss reviews. This is incredibly unenjoyable to read, the mc seems way too child-coded to be an adult, the ml is just straight up unlikable, and every time they do it has me uncomfortable as all hell cause the mc constantly pushes the ml away until he gives in or is overpowered. Ts sucks, and it is DEFINITELY NOT well written I swear things just happen in this damn story and we don't like linger on em long enough to process it?? Like I don't even know how to explain it, things just happen so suddenly and it leaves me both overwhelmed and then empty?? dropped ugh.

I fell in love with this story because of the novel, and it's disappointing how they execute the manhwa.
They cut so much of Soohyun's inner monologues and Gi Taeyeon's small acts of care.
The inner monologues shows how clear headed Soohyun is. He always lists the pros and cons before making a decision. He is always kind but logical, naive to the world but he already learned his lessons about trusting people (his father).
I think whoever made the manhwa is trying to mold it to fit the extremely toxic mainstream manhwas out there.

For example, after the rape scene, Soohyun think that throughly many times.
First, right after - he contemplated to call the police but he didn't not because he's scared but because he felt calm and the sex didn't diminished him, but wrong is still wrong and deemed that the Director needs to apologize to him.
Second, days after - He felt icked that the secretary make it seemed like it was rape.
Even after talking to the grandma, he's just pissed that the Director didn't contacted him.
And many small times after that. He analyze everything. He's not in love with the Director, but he is curious about sex and enjoyed it.

There's many things like this that they cut, making Soohyun seems like a hopeless helpless kid being taking advantage off.

    Spoiler
When Soohyun realized that he's in love with the Director, he didn't helplessly yearn, he made a 6 month plan to make the Director fell for him too since it's already obvious that the Director at the very least like him back.
He even prevented Gi Taeyeon from going to jail because although he is willing to wait, dating a 40 year old is different from dating a 30 year old.
My guy is a logical menace.

You'd think they'd have MORE inner monologues in a comic ;w;???

I may consider the novel just to see how it compares, but rape scenes always leave me pretty tired with how often they happen. If the plot was originally less focused on Soohyun's youngness, I think I'd have enjoyed it more cause in here, the director is CONSTANTLY talking about it, which makes me so uncomfortable. And people are disagreeing with me but that's WEIRD to focus on, and in the way he does, calling him a baby and infantilizing him in the manwha, it's jarring and bordering on pedophilic, idc what anyone says, the manhwaga is making it weird

I'm under the impression that you already read the tags since you have read the comments.
Advice, if you have a lot of boundaries, you should trust the tags more than the reviews because people have different ranges of boundaries, for example me, I'm okay with age and social status gap since my parents are 15 years apart and have master and maid background, and I saw how normal they act. Plus I don't mixed in my values to the arts that i consumed cause that's the artist's values. Priests read the bible all the time but does that stop them from doing crimes? It doesn't right?

Most of the BLs started with a rape scene. That's a common knowledge by now.

Yeah, and I'm an adult who's sometimes okay with age gaps and can handle rape plots, but they're still tiring to read, and I can complain about them ALWAYS being in BL, it's a very lazy setup for a romance plot atp. Tags can't fully always explain what the story will entail in terms of context, which is why I read reviews since they go in depth, and again, this takes way more time infantilizing the mc than just having an age gap. You can approach age gaps in a lot of ways that feel healthy without doing that, cause then it calls into question whether the story was made with sincerity or with the intent to have a kiddish mc.

I'm not gonna comment on the other part of your message cause my values and the way I consume art can easily overlap, especially because I am an artist who writes, and reading these stories influences how I go about writing.

It is a bummer that the manhwa doesn't show more of mc's thoughts because in the novel he does consent to the heat sex and basically from here on out he enthusiastically consents (if not directly asks for) sex for the remainder of the story. I also read his character as more on the autism spectrum, but I do understand the uncomfy-ness with how much they play into the age gap. As a spoiler, there is daddy kink in the extras and the age gap stays pretty consistent throughout so if you're not a fan I do not recommend reading further. But I just wanted to clairfy that while it does start with rape and that is such a tired trope, our mc is very determined, thinks through how he feels, is very emotionally intelligent, and knows and voices what he wants which I do find refreshing. I am not a fan of how young he is drawn in some panels like he is very clearly a 20 year old and then whiplash he looks weirdly young... idk it is troubling but I also love the story for how I know it plays out in the novel so it is very conflicting.
