Dude if my buddy ran away from me all of sudden while confessed at the same time i would crash out too. Thats how I saw it.
And again "he didn't realize" you say.. which is why I said what he felt was subconscious attraction. Seojoon was always available. He felt contented with his presence daily and didnt register it as romantic and he was satisfied with that because there was zero risk of loss.
I mean you were saying there's no hints but he's been acting very clingy like that all through s2 even before Seojoon left, all the way up til the realization/confession at the end now. and I think the author makes it pretty obvious that love takes many shapes & forms & that the core of their love is about just wanting to be together. like his brain crashed when Seojoon said those exact words in the bird chapters
(just finished reading Passion Raga which addresses the same topic but the bottom is okay with loving from afar)
also I think ppl always forget that Seojoon didn't leave bc he just felt like it, it was the condition for Ines to finally do the show bc Jooan "would do anything" for Hajin and she already rejected them before. and he wasn't willing to do anything after all bc he says Seojoon's deal wasn't worth it
I see it this way..if these two friends were to go back 5 to 6 years and Seojun asked the blondie whether he would choose him or his lovers..I see the blondie in every universe and timeline choosing his so called friend Seojoon over all of his last lovers. That is the kind of love our blondie have, it is peculiar
I think he was confused about both his attraction towards Hajin and his love for Seojoon.
Hajin was a very important part of Jooan’s childhood and he inevitably got attached to the point of believing he was in love. It’s clear his connection with Seojoon was strong from the beginning and kept growing with time, but he already believed to be in love so he saw this new connection as a “great friendship” (or more like convinced himself that’s all it was). The key difference here is that he could live alright without Hajin before their reunion, and even after seeing him with Geonwoo, but he lost it the moment Seojoon left.
He’s also the type of character to “say one thing but do another”. It happens a lot throughout the story. The man was saying it would be better to “let him go” while gripping his pillow and that he “never felt that way about him” while sniffing his clothes and bedsheets lol.
I get what you mean about there not being signs. We mostly see their relationship through Seojoon’s pov up until he disappears, so it makes sense that it felt too one sided.
Yes! I think so too. He would choose Seojoon over again and again, but years ago, he would have called it friendship, not romance. This is why I said there was no hint. There was no burning lust or desire for 'lover stuff', even the slightest. just a quiet, pure devotion. I didn't really see it as him loving Seojoon as a partner. But we could tell he would choose him everytime..
He was so fixated on his idealization of Hajin that he grew complacent in the comfort of Seojoon's constant presence.
Im 50/50 because well for me .. he really only saw Seojoon as a Friend before. A friend he cant live without. The confession from Seojoon was necessary to shake it. But Thats just me.

So what the blondie felt was subconscious attraction? And he doesnt even realize till his friend told him. Lol
Unlike other manhwas that drop obvious breadcrumbs about a character's feelings so its predictable, his part left no hints.
