Thats valid though, I just thought he was cheating on MC for real like the ML from Decade of Deep Love/Ten Years I loved you the Most.
I also don’t like the ML sleeping with others here, nothing to encourage or be happy about lol
ML is just keeping himself safe from being hurt in a serious relationship, and while his words can come off as icky, it’s not cheater or stuff like that. I know some people don’t like the ML, but as someone who hates cheating and any borderline cheating stuff, I cannot see how this is anywhere close to that. Here are the chapters I went through, I only listed the ones that mention of flings, jealousy, little stuff.
Ch 4: Just ML mentioning past sex with his ex who died.
Ch 10: MC finds ML at a bar, ML is just chatting, and talks shitty about his ex who died.
Ch 11: ML is about to sleep with some random, but changed mind. He felt bad about yelling at MC, being harsh. He’s a bit worried if MC mind abandon things or him.
Ch 17: this is when ML starts thinking about their relationship, but he still feels about the same, that he doesn’t want to be tied down by serious romance/relationships. He wants to be carefree, probably due to a reason.
Ch 18: ML declines dinner with MC, saying he already has dinner planned and that he would be back in morning or something. He goes with a random woman. MC thinks about how much of a player ML is, and gets irritated. Flashback to when he saw ML with a random guy in an alley, fucking or something. He’s like: I kind of expected this.
Ch 20–23: ML is a bit jealous because of MC and his friend talking.
Ch 25: Everyone is working on investigations. ML flirts with some others a bit, two girls I believe, but it isn’t serious, he is digging info out I think.
Ch 27: ML is jealous again. He goes in bed with MC at night, but MC brushes it off and sleeps. ML thinks: What am I doing holding onto someone like this? Then, leaves the room (don’t worry he isn’t hooking up, just got night air and went back—ch 28 clears it up).
Not related to Main Couple but: Ch 29 or 30 is childhood memories of MC and his friend, it’s so cute. I kind of wish they were the main, but it’s okay.
Ch 30: Hmm.. ML and a lady is talking, the lady mentioned how ML showed up to her place at 4 AM with an unreasonable request (was that when ML went out for ‘air’ in ch 27?) BUT it doesn’t seem flirty. She gave him something, so I guess it was about that. I was a bit suspicious, but it didn’t look like a hook up thing. Anyways, ML soon sees MC and his friend together, and is jealous.
Ch 31: Lol author makes it subtle but ML is really jealous, to the point he tells the two of them to go ahead and have dinner together, he says he will go rest. He really does rest.
Ch 36: ML asks MC if he has been helpful, if he isn’t a dead weight. They ‘argue’ a bit. MC asks ML why he has been seeing other partners during the business stuff (which was way before ch 20s range I believe), and if kissing + hooking up counts as casual for him. ML says those are just casual flings to him, nothing new or special. MC asks how it’s any different with him compared to other flings. ML says there’s a special unique connection and comes running for detective stuff because of him (MC). He literally says MC is the most important to him. That he can’t compare MC with other flings. ML shoots fire back, asking MC why he has his ‘ex’ near when he’s the one who’s been by his side for months. Realization hits, jealousy, etc. yap yap.
