I just looked up the meanings of the names Hatano Ryuji which means “huge flag”—and Minamoto Kaname which means “source of the vital point” (there’s a speaker called the “source point” that’s designed to emit sound from a single point or specific location, this reminds me of how Minamoto could only hear the MC’s voice because it was so loud I don’t know if this is just a coincidence, but it’s really funny). Also, Masumi (the fudanshi) means “true purity” (well, he isn’t). No wonder this manga is so popular in east asia the author is a true genius at making jokes. I think Matpat should make a theory video about this manga (anyway, cmiiw i dont speak Japanese so i don't really know if this true or not) ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
Damn, how were you able to figure out the meanings behind their names despite "dont speak japanese"? Just curious, as I have heard that japanese names (and other east asian names) do have a meaning behind them almost always unlike western names most of the time. ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
