speaking in the realm of this text, if you're a fucked up person you know how fucked up people act. that scene at the beach where xinlu and ilay essentially had a standoff over who has possession over taeui? a very clear indication that they're two sides of the same coin. so xinlu knew that ilay was possessive over taeui, xinlu just didn't know to what extent.

Shinru is a thousand times worse than Tae. Shinru is currently caught up in the Shinru x Gable romance... his future partner. He's obsessed with Tae because he thinks Tae is something he owns, like a toy, that he saw first... before Ilay did. Gable is so kind to Shinru, trying to reason with him. It's pathetic how Gable is at this point. Shinru would kill Tae, just to be without him.
That's why Ilay tells him she never wants him to see him again. She knows what Shinru is capable of, and her whole family would help him.
Shinru doesn't love Tae, and that's what the Shinru and Cable romance shows: Shinru's obsession, his lack of control, how he sees Tae as an object. He's a spoiled, capricious rich kid.
