“If you do your mind’s bidding, you will not make mistakes. But your actions will lack truthfulness. If you do as your heart tells you, you may make mistakes. But your actions will be true. Please do as your heart tells you.”
“..you are a wonderful person. I am evidence of that, for I have survived thanks to you. And I will continue to live, until you command me to die.”
These were my two favorite quotes from the story so far. Both were said by ML.
However, ML is not a lovable person. At least in the present timeline of the story. Far from it. There’s no excuse for him ruining the MC, albeit ML has been through hell.
Truth is, I felt much indignation and anger on behalf of mc for ml’s actions… but it was ML’s story that made me cry against my own volition.
This is just my take on it.
I’m very much looking forward to the plot development. I want MC to be happy and free.
As for ML, a part of me really wants his suffering to ends. I think he’s suffered enough - no child should have experienced other people’s scorn and their own family’s hatred like that. His own tendencies born from enduring as a child and being pushed beyond his mental and emotional limits on top of physically tending with squalid conditions are also a source of his own suffering to the present - it would be nice if the author could conjure a resolution wherein ML could find contentment, and perhaps healing at last. A safe place for him to learn how to love and be human while refraining from violence and free from mental torment.
To add, one of my favorite characters is also Jung Mo! The ML’s general. To think that the palace full of hatred could yield someone else other than MC who can actually feel for the ML pity and sorrow is a miracle.
I don’t like the eldest prince at all. He sent the ml to their brother who had sadistic tendencies and who hated ML. That prince is no simple prince, for sure. Mind ML at this time had no power. He also told the prince that he had no interest for the throne whatsoever - he only asked the prince for help so he could leave the palace, and perhaps follow MC and watch him from afar. ML at this time had not killed anybody, albeit he had shown tendencies to retaliating when his line has been crossed. Fully knowing this, the eldest prince still schemed against the downtrodden.
I can’t wait for the rest of the story. Very much feeling complicated but sincerely hoping the characters could achieve an acceptable ending. I wonder what the author has in mind
