I’m not really talking abt the plot and what literally happened between them, but moreso their banter and dynamic in a broader sense and how they feel abt each other. Though since I finished the passion novels I guess I have a bit different impression of Ilay lol. Ofc hyunjae way better, and this ain’t even a BL to begin with, and there are a lot of OBVIOUS differences in character. I just see overlap in how they’re both obsessed and endeared by the MC, super strong but bored of life until MC comes along, while MCs are both super caring and silly, love their brother, and everyone around them can’t help but love them too. Also if you remember, prereg hyunjae was cold and stoic, and postreg considered killing everyone to possess yoojin, he’s not all flowers! it’s just not a BL
Maybe if it was another bl story, but I still don’t see it.
The thing is illay obsession for Taeui is more than hyunjae obsession with the mc (I won’t even call it 100% obsession in hyunjae case)
Ilay is toxic and that has to do with his character and not the plot. Hyunjae isn’t the type of person that will prevent the mc from seeing his family or friends nor will hurt/kill others around him. He also physically hurt the mc .
I don’t see how you’re comparing a toxic ass character to hyunjae
I already stated that there are obvious differences between the two but youre still bringing it up as if I haven’t acknowledged it. I was only commenting on the BIGGER picture, but just to address what you said, obviously Ilay’s obsession with taeui is bigger—it’s a BL! Not only is he intrigued with taeui’s character and boldness, he’s also IN LOVE with it and wants to possess him bc he’s toxic and capable of hurting others. YES their personalities are different. I never said they were carbon copies of each other nor was I comparing the characters themselves, so you can unclench. Again, it’s only the feelings and circumstances I was comparing.
If you’re just going to repeat “well he’s toxic!” for the nth time again, I’m not going to reply. It’s something only a Passion fan or someone with critical thinking would get anyways LOL
I see... I think I can quite get what you mean. I guess you enjoyed reading passion, cause again you said ONLY those who have read the novel of it (Paasion) can tell. So that's why you see the overlap. Good for you then... we have different views and perspectives and for me personally, I just don't see it. I read passion but the manhwa, and the thing you say about them bantering and feel about each other. I've seen that a hundred times with similar stories like passion or rival to lovers trope. And bored ml then got obsessed when mc came, that kind of thing. So I can't really see the overlap to Yoojin and Hyunjae. But if you do, that's good for you.
Ps. You don't have to reply btw. Have a nice day and happy pride month fellow reader.
You’re so right that rival to lover trope exists in stories other than passion, but in particular, the way Ilay and Hyunjae are both really powerful and bored of life until taeui and yoojin came along, taeui and yoojin both having brothers that are far more competent than them but defying all expectations nonetheless, and ilay and hyunjae both being attracted to that very aspect are all the reasons why I thought they reminded me of each other (not the characters, just the feelings and circumstances). And I only said that bc those who have read the Passion novel or are at least fans of it are more willing to analyze Ilay’s character more deeply, rather than just calling him toxic.
Thanks for keeping it respectful, happy pride month to you too!

Does anyone else see Ilay and taeui in Hyunjae and Yujin or am I crazy
