This feels more like a relationship where you gotta be each others therapist, because none seeks an actual one. That can be emotionally exhausting for both parties and usually doesn’t end up well. It’s more destructive then healing. The age difference and it dynamic made me also think- especially around the ending. The way that older guy (ML) approached someone who is way younger then him so he could move on from his past (ex)*, lastly trying to talk MC into leading him by taking his hand (basically saying be there for him) It reminds of guilt tripping - I took care of you, now it’s your turn so please don’t abound me.
