I agree that the parents aren’t spending enough time with their children. I wish the author would focus on family time. This is one of the rare manhwas that don’t do that.
Though it looks like the author chose to give the parents a more realistic way of parenting for how it was back in historical times. Back then, nobles were expected to have their children taken care of by the servants and nannies. Never to actually be the ones taking care of their children themselves.
It’s also because the emperor and empress are so busy running the entire country, dealing with political issues, etc. They’re in charge of the lives of thousands of citizens. I don’t think the parents are intentionally ignoring their children, they have shown care (at least the mom does), they just look to be really busy. It’s the same with the children, they’re all busy doing their own thing, like the brother is fighting on the field, and the FL is traveling around doing all these duties.
Tbh all the manhwas where the noble parents of the mc take care of their children, are the fantasy version that wouldn’t normally happen irl in historical times. I think readers got too used to that and assume that’s the norm so when a manhwa actually inputs stuff that happened irl in history, they’re shocked and appalled. This is the same case for when an emperor ML has concubines and has to have children with them- readers get shocked when it actually happens cause they’re too used to the fairy tale emperor MLs that magically choose only one person to be with their whole life. I get readers being upset, but for those genuinely confused why the parents are acting like this- I sometimes wish those readers would study up about the settings they chose to read. The modern mindset of parenting and monogamy shouldn’t be expected when you chose to read a historical manhwa.
