I mean isn't it supposed to form the context for his character? I'm not saying cheating is a good thing but it's supposed to show the social norms of their world AND how he navigated his (unrequited) feelings for her. I hope you've read this far enough because SPOILER he has loved her in every lifetime. That's why the moment he got her, he became the faithful man he was meant to be.
People are complex and that's what gives them spice! If this was a world that's completely black and white, it would make for a bland story.

Yes, he cheated before which was a shitty thing to do but she chose to stay and love him. He fell in love with his wife and its clear to see that he regretted everything and worked hard to earn her affection. Yeah its gonna take time to see past him first being unfaithful but that was part of him literally rebelling. Hes still wrong but it lends context to his growth and overall changed as a person.

I get you. I’m not an avid reader but I glance every once in a while to see the finale. I never agreed with the fact that he did cheat on her & only opened his eyes when he physically saw her making out with another woman. In reality, a boy like that wouldn’t even deserve a second chance; everyone who’s defending him give vibes that they would lmfao. I guess what changes the perspective would be that she needed him to change her fate , and that it’s overall fiction … I still wish he would yearn more
