Geumryang being detached to his children is actually completely understandable. his children are supposed to be his replacement as a guardian of the mountain, he never expected to live on and actually get to know them. and frankly, the reason why he continues to live is because of taesun. it's taesun who's anchoring him to the world, not the kids and that's why he's detached to them. he didn't know how it is to have a parent or what it felt like to be a son, he doesn't have that experience and merely looks at his children as an extension of taesun so i found it fascinating how it's reflected on his interactions with the kids and opposed to how taesun's own interaction with them
