Dropped this here, came across it a month later and decided to read from the beginning. Got to this chapter again and I still hate him and this stupid trope.
Let me explain: if he can't say anything directly, there are ways around it. I've seen it done dozens of times. None of this, "Go back!" BS. Instead, make an analogy, tell a story or a fable. Something not directly tied to the past but with enough hints in it that you can somewhat talk your way around it to give clues on what happened or what to avoid.
He would know that she died and that the mess that happened afterwards was a direct result of her death. He told her to go back. And what? He didn't tell her that the future would continue to change. He didn't assure her that she's be protected now. He CAN'T promise her protection BECAUSE he'll be going back to the east. He's essentially telling her to die again, worth zero comfort. That's not redeemable. "Oh but he meant well."
No. He. DIDN'T. If he meant well, no matter how awkward, he would try to offer some comfort. A simple gesture. Say something seemingly cruel but quietly push her tea cup towards her, offering her a drink for comfort. An awkward pat on the hand or shoulder while avoiding eye contact. An awkward phrase that doesn't seem related to anything but is important to the future or a reference from her past that she must have told him. He would offer SOMETHING. The author gave her NOTHING but cruelty. That's INTENTIONAL. This isn't autism or sociopathy or even psychopathic. Everyone makes an effort to fit in, even if they're not good at it, UNLESS they want to be cruel. This is cruelty for cruelty's sake on both his part and the author's part. I'm going to keep going but f this guy.

I hate, hate, hate this stupid trope. You also remember your previous life. And you're sitting here, asking her what she thinks happened after she died? She DIED. She wouldn't know. And then you proceed to BLAME HER for not knowing anything. This is BS. He has full ability to tell her what happened but instead plays the stupid game of, "The future is changing and it's all your fault!"
Also, also. If you want a better outcome for the future, take an active effort. Don't give me this BS of, "Oh they made a promise not to get involved with other houses!" THEN WHY ARE YOU HERE??? LEAVE. If you're not going to interfere, don't make any effort at all.
Evergreen is 1000% at fault for anything that happens in the future. Unless that stupid god Vincente or whatever his name is sealed his mouth shut himself, he has zero excuses. He's just making a huge mess of things. Fuck him. I officially hate this character now and nothing can redeem him.
