what a touching and multi-faceted depiction of queerness and sexual abuse. emotionally delicate with so many small moments that felt so BIG. and though it's a love triangle, it never feels cheap or contrived. just the sweet complications of middle school love... obsessed with the sparse and gorgeous line work also
as recently as 2023 japan's requirements for legally changing your gender included mandatory sterilization (what the fuck!!) and the laws continue to be very restrictive across japan... "we'll let you be yourself, but only if you mutilate your body the way we say so. if you want to live just follow these easy rules!"

so manga like bokura no hentai that showcase the complexity of queerness and trans experience and help the world understand just a little bit are so valuable especially since the mangaka really took the time and care to interview real trans people!
and i just love this story and these characters. they've stayed with me a long time
