I thought that was the British rendition of how the word was used (as I’ve read women being casually referred to as “birds” by men in books ), as per the internet the newer American version is connected to the term”bird brain”/“bird brained”, yk like the trend where people put that one sza song in the back. One means hoe and another means gullible. Though I guess they’re both problematic at the end of the day.
You’re right it has several meanings but the American version was created as an insult mainly towards women. I never saw any man called a bird until now. Which is crazy cause the ppl who used it in the comments, specifically called the mc a bird, which we all know how certain readers view bottoms as the “women” in the relationship. So it all just makes it worse. It’s really just exposing which readers have some sort of internal misogyny and are projecting that even on bottoms.
I get yall triggered af cause the mc took the ml back but some of yall using “birds” as a derogatory term towards women is crazyyy. The word “bird” was used for decades as an insult towards women- heck at one point it meant a prostitute. There’s already too many men trying to find new words to insult women, now yall are trying to use it for fun too? Men already used “bop” as a way to get past guidelines on social media, instead of using the word “whore/slut.”
