This reminds me of people who are rough around the edges, but once they meet their other half, they truly grow into the person they’re supposed to be.
Let me vent btw: I hate those villains so much. I hate people like that who are truly sons of bitches for selling the vulnerable, and I hate the system of the world even more. Made me think about why hell exist: because true justice can’t happen in this world for the truly abused and downtrodden. I’m glad the MC was rescued - I was so frigging scared and angry. Thank goodness ML actually managed to find him (that kind of shady business is usually pretty tight and hard to trace).
There were many quotes that were memorable. It was exhilarating to read.
“Temperamental, hesitant, timid… afraid of being alone, afraid of losing someone… I never imagined I’d have those feelings… but I’ve come to realize that I do… because of you.” (ML)
“My exes used to tell me I have no right to say, I like you. Maybe that’s true. It’s like the word ‘like’ carries absolutely no weight when I speak it. I don’t even believe myself. But saying it now… it feels really special…” (MC)
“Not everyone is as excellent as you, but they’re all working very hard. If you can learn to appreciate that, you might feel less alone.” (MC)
And ofc their confessions (scream into my pillow) — I don’t want to spoil it for anyone because they are packed with emotions.
Anyway, I stressed so much over the villains, and I may not have been a big fan from the start, but I really got so invested after the characters amazing growth and romantics development.
Gone for the time being are the days I’ve read light hearted bl.
Btw I’m only halfway through. I’m at the beginning of their relationship so I’m not speaking for the REST OF THE STORY. I’m actually crossing my fingers over the rest of the chapters TT0TT I hope nothing ruins my opinion so far.
