I know she’s acting like a brat and behaving terribly. But honestly, it’s not her fault. She was raised in an environment where she was favored, probably never scolded, and always heard the other adults looking down on her cousin and calling her names. Probably praising her when she did as well.
Plus, seeing as she was the only known child of the snow leopards, a strong dukedom, she was basically on the same level as the twins and was most likely always treated well by peers too.
And then to read this latest chapter, where she’s now had basically a 180 of her life, where grandfather doesn’t hug her, praise her, or even really look at her anymore and only ever scolds her. And being raised with that high pride but now having to lower her head to not only the child she was always told she’s better than, but to know that it’s basically that child’s “fault” for all these bad changes happening to her. Plus having everybody think poorly of her for acting similar to how she’s most likely always acted, when I’m sure before they never said it out loud around her at least. Of course you would be having a tantrum and freaking out.
Also the competition she was even given so much shit, but she was 7, the youngest there, and of course somebody had to lose. People were comparing her to a woman her mom probably always talked shit about so she probably hated that too. I’m sure she was pushed to do the competition at 7 too, because obviously there wouldn’t have been anybody to compete the year prior when she was 6 and didn’t compete. So she’s once again getting pulled along by her mother and grandfathers whims and then catching strays for it.
Her family did her a huge disservice, and even now, her mom is still scolding Tiel and telling Rowan that she’s better than her basically. So Rowan isn’t gonna learn unless something major happens or she’s able to make adult connections and change herself.
Like, I just can’t blame a 7 year old for her behavior like this with such a huge change. Honestly, Tiel is the weird one for taking all the changes in her life in stride (but I love her anyway).
Sorry, I just have a lot of feelings for this poor child who has opposite, but still poor circumstances (though obvi not nearly as bad as Tiels). I kind of wish she ends up getting a good ending where she and Tiel becomes friends and she becomes the new head of the snow leopards and reforms them.
