I am not sure about Isabitcha is conscious about the past life...
Just read some spoiler. Here it is regarding Agosto or Ali:
In the first life, Ali was brought to the De Mare estate by Isabella, where he was abused and eventually noticed by Ariadne. In the second timeline, Ali deliberately ensures he is the one Isabella picks. He does this because his primary, driving purpose in existence is to find and protect Ariadne. He knows that the only way to get close to her, protect her from her family, and act as her shadow is to let Isabella "buy" him and bring him straight to the estate.
