olgruggio and qifrey's relationship is a mirror to custas' and his father's although their relationships are different. we learn that the tree on custas's legs start to engolf him if he feels peace so his father offered to basically die or make custas forget every single good memory. and then we learn that time and time again, olruggio has had the same reaction to qifrey also sharing the same symptoms, so he makes qifrey seal away his memory so he stews in his depression.
