hes like "why do i care about this woman when she should be my enemy" always protecting her, being mad she went hunting with him even when she said it could be dangerous, also kissing her to reassure her he wont take a lover when she tells him he will love saintess
ofc he would consider her an enemy she was in the manor when his ONLY remaining family died, if he wasnt cautious of her he would be an idiot

    spoilers from @ahgases

the duke ignored the fl bc the saintess told him that if he were close to the fl and if they loved each other his overflowing mana would kill her, just like his father did. herdin in1st timeline loved her so much and he was cold toward his son bc he didnt want the son to have the same fate as him and his dad.

then the saintess and him pretend to cheat on each other so the fl would not love him anymore. when he found out she’s dead, he tried to turn back the time and asked for her to regain of the memories instead of him, so she could deliberately avoided him in another life.

He's not trash, but he's not exactly a green flag either.

You always have to consider the context in which the ML grew up. His childhood was deeply traumatic (I can spoil the reason if you want). Nobody would go near him because he was cursed. Nobody except his aunt, who was eventually murdered, hypothetically from Blair's mother. A dead that left him completely alone, carrying the entire burden of his house on his own shoulders at just thirteen years old.

He's then forced to marry the daughter of the woman he despises most—his uncle's mistress. That daughter was present when his aunt died and never told anyone what had happened. For years, both he and his entire house believed that Blair was protecting her mother through her silence. Ten years of that—almost half his life. He simply doesn't know how to express his emotions.

He's deeply traumatized, has severe trust issues, and struggles to socialize or rely on other people. So no, he obviously can't be considered a green flag.

That said, he loves her. Deeply. Despite her family, and despite everyone around him telling him to leave her and marry someone else (because, in truth, neither his vassals nor anyone in House Delmark wants her there), he never gives in. He defends her, remains loyal to her, and never allows anyone to bad mouthing of her—even in moments when all the evidence seems to point against her.

Still, he's definitely not a green flag, because the way he loves her is often desperate, possessive, and morally questionable.

This is all I'm trying to say:

Yes, that's what I'm talking about, him believing she lied when she never implied to him in any way that she would do that. And from what I remember in their first life he definitely did more than just not get close to her for reasons, he also didn't protect her from his enemies or his household staff, letting everyone trample all over her. If he thought she was deliberately and maliciously lying because as a child she should have known better than to side with her mother he should have known better as an adult how his staff would treat a presumedly unloved wife.
