This is psychological genre, atleast it wasn't masked as romantic but rather told as really fucced up move by the messed up ML.
Plus, people did complain when it was newly released but the plot progressed to be interesting so people continued to read it. Understandable that it can be a reason to drop this story cause of those scenes. But if you want, you can skip the chapter containing those scenes.
