its been awhile since i last read but something is stuck in my mind, that this arc could be connected to the hero of the south (and maybe the demons too)
although the hero of the south was determined that he will be defeated, it was implied that some of the demons had flee, so who rlly knows whatever happened to his corpse or if he is still alive, frieren did say that his corpse were likely consumed by demons, but that was just a theory of hers, there is also a demon that could use manipulation magic, grausam, in the past chapters he peeked through frieren's memories, he maybe manipulated the demons or mankind that the hero died, OR the hero of the south survived and knowing that, he faked his own death cause i would be confused too if i survived and the future i saw was wrong.
there is also schlacht, why did he specifically ask macht to come with him to battle the hero of the south? when macht stated that he had a face 'that knew he was going to die' he looked wavered, and also schlacht said that grausam will erase macht's memories after the battle, maybe he used the ability of macht to turn the hero into gold, and knowing the future that frieren will read macht's memories, he made grausam erase it, so she would not know what really happened after the battle.
as for lowe who is confident that serie would be killed, they could possibly be hiding a trump card that could kill serie (since he stated that he's just a pawn) i doubt that they didnt plan this carefully knowing they r killing an elf from the mythical era, since the northern empire hates and distrusts the contnental magic association, it could be possible that they collaborated with demons (prob powerful ones) and knowing his past, who wouldn't bite the oppurtunity?
theres also a panel where serie was talking to someone, possibly the hero of the south, i seriously doubt that he's the one that could possibly be killing serie
i still trust frieren saying that serie will not die but who knowwsss
