Of course it turns to be like THIS, because it's absolutely clear this promise-thing is just the completely UNNECESSARY plot point that the author added out of nowhere to forcibly provide the reason for this most dumbest MC's outrageously insane actions, and then let her beloved character raped and cum inside MC and even be fuckin forgiven, and insisted to forcibly lead the fuckin "who's daddy" triangle (it means she plotted that MC won't use the pill even after he got raped, despite he used that right in front of ML when they had sex. How disgusting). She just gave up that idea because of the most tremendous backlash in the BL history and numerous readers declared to drop.
In fact, the reason why ML refused to give up the chairman's seat was completely different (he didn't even insisted to win) before this unnecessary "promise" setting suddenly added and the author let ML act like totally unnaturally or OOC and made the only truly thoughtfull person into some pathetic idiot just because she wanna somehow justify this dumbest MC's contradictory crazy actions despite there's no single room for that.
So, of course the author can't handle this dumbest mess ever, thoughtlessly made by herself.
My biggest issue is that the author clearly wanted certain plot pts but had zero foresight into actually executing it.. for example im pretty sure the author had no idea how the uke was going to remember the promise years ago so the plot holes just come off as the uke being an idiot asshole whose apparent long term memory loss was resolved in one fucking chapter by sitting down and THINKING, something the author should probably learn how to do given the lack of it is projected onto all these characters who have yet to show me an accurate representation of basic common sense
