I reread the last couple of chapters to see if there was something deeper and more complex that I'm missing. Really focused and tried to. Nope. Nothing. Just a jar full of nothing. It's not complicated because of a complex plot. There's no complex plot. Just bad writing. Like the author wanted to show angst, crime and bad stuff more than they want to deliver a good plot and complex characters. I guess there's a thin line between complex characters and just down-right confusing ones
I've sat through and read through toxic BLs and liked some of them despite the non-con, red flag ML, shitty redemption arcs, whatever toxic BL trope. This one is not it.
