If I remember correctly the novel, it’s after their relation is clearly established. Chase want to meet Joshua’s child (not knowing the child is his). They go to an amusement park and there’s an incident (sorry I don’t remember the circumstances).Chase save the little boy and when Joshua come to help and thank Chase, he reveals him everything.

iirc the amusement park incident was when his kid got lost and chase was the one who found him first but there was a dog or something and then chase got over his fear to protect the kid and i think josh told him then- it was like a whole thing with josh telling wanting to find the perfect moment to tell chase or smthing but he ended up telling him in the heat of the moment after he rescued their son

........... and it’s a big deal because Chase is terrified by dogs and the dog is a big one. When Josh see how Chase overcome his fear to protect the boy (not knowing it’s his own child but just to protect the precious son of his lover), he reveals everything.
