It IS that deep.

The concept of slavery with romance itself is such an insane combination that whoever thinks of this does NOT value and care about slavery and its history. I just KNOW #thosepeople will defend and justify this bl just for the fact that its a bl (and created by a popular author). It IS that deep and its not surprising that an Asian country like Korea is spreading and falling for the western propaganda and glazing the hell outta it. Not even white people can get away with such concept what makes you think Asians are special? This immediately made me loose respect for this author and I hope they either remove this or this gets cancelled in the hard way. This is just racism disguised as a story that “helps save or act different towards slavery”. The representation could have been waaaay better but of course none authors from Korea (except the truly educated ones) know how to carry it out.

And there are already people saying its not that deep and it doesn’t affect anyone now….it’s interesting how low humans can go and how ignorant one can be.

Sure! The portrayal of a “white savior” is partly the reason, it’s problematic because it doesn’t show a proper savior yet shows and pushes the agenda of “this white man is different because he freed those slaves”. Now this might look like a positive statement but the issue with this is that its degrading those “slaves” and making it all about that white man. Another reason is how the ”freeing slaves” is represented, the way the mc freed those slaves was like throwing money onto a homeless persons face and then leaving like you did something good, its quite disrespectful isn’t it? Now imagine that but with slavery…he threw his money and “freed” those slaves and the chapter called it a day. The author didn’t even try with the “freeing slave” part and rushed passed it, that is called hidden racism. One last reason i’ll add is how little to no research was done about slavery for this story/chapter, he “freed” those slaves but now what? If you do just a little research then you must know that those who became slaves lost all their rights. So how are they “free” when they”ll just become slave of someone else because of their lack of rights and support?

And if this is just a “peace of fiction, it can have mistakes” to you then just know slavery is not something little nor is it something that has been fully resolved. It is a huge part of the world’s history and crisis therefore if anyone wants include it in their fiction the least they can do is represent it in an accurate and respectful way.

(I’m not good at explaining but I hope you understood and if anyone can word it better then me then please do!)
