It's typical alpha/omega rules; omegas are at the bottom of the pecking order while alphas are at the top.
The MC is just in this situation in the present-day because of the trauma he caused the ML that we haven't gotten around to yet.
So, in past lives, the Lunas were subservient to the Alphas and bore their children, whereas in this life, the Lunas are being devoured by the god Mugo. Where is the freedom for the Lunas in that?
